In 1979, he graduated with honors from the Moscow Railway Transport Engineering Institute (MIIT) Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering and continued his education with post-graduate studies at the Computing Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics. In 1990, Viktor Vekselberg became one of the major founders of the Renova Asset Management Company. Since 1996, he served as President of the SUAL Group and eventually became Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SUAL Group in 2003. From April 2002 to October 2003, he served as Chairman of the Management Board of TNK. He currently serves as a Member of the TNK-BP Board of Directors. From 2007 to Marth 2012, he held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Company Rusal (UC Rusal). Viktor Vekselberg actively participates in numerous public organizations that support the development of the Russian economy, as well as Russian business and culture. In particular, he is a Member of the Bureau of the Management Board of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP) and the Chairman of the RSPP Committee on International Cooperation. In March 2010, President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev appointed Viktor Vekselberg as the Head of the project for launching the Innovation Center in Skolkovo. Since June 2010, he has been the President of the Skolkovo Foundation.
