Franciscus van Meel
Franciscus van Meel was born on April 23, 1966 in `s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands. After completing his studies at the Technical University of Berlin and graduating with a degree in Automotive Engineering, he began his professional career at the IBF engineering company in Berlin (IBF Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH). In 1994 van Meel moved to ITT Automotive Europe GmbH in Frankfurt am Main. There he became project manager for ESP (Electronic Stability Program) in series development. He continued to pursue this topic when, at the beginning of 1996, he joined AUDI AG in Ingolstadt as an ESP development engineer. From mid-1997 he worked as assistant to the Head of Chassis Development, before taking over as Head of Active and Passive Suspension Systems at the end of 1998. In 2002, as Technical Product Manager, van Meel assumed responsibility for project management of the Audi Q7. Following this in 2006, he became Head of Development for Wheel Brakes, Tire Pressure Monitoring and Driver Assistance Systems. Since 2009 Franciscus van Meel has been responsible for Electromobility Strategy at AUDI AG.
