Alix Christie is an American journalist and the author of "Gutenberg's Apprentice," a debut novel that tells the story of the world's first tech startup, the invention of printing in medieval Germany. She is a longtime foreign correspondent who has reported from Paris, Berlin and London for publications that include the *San Francisco Chronicle, Washington Post, Guardian of London and Salon.com*. A native of California who apprenticed as a letterpress printer, she was previously the editor of the Chronicle Foreign Service, the S.F. Chronicle's network of foreign stringers. Alix holds an MFA in fiction from St Mary's College of California and her award-winning stories have appeared in North American literary magazines and limited letterpress editions. Her first novel has just been published to critical acclaim by Harper Books in the USA and Canada and Headline Review in the U.K. and Commonwealth, and in eight other countries.
