Social and Technology Research Daimler AG Born in Berlin 1957, Alexander Mankowsky studied Social Science, Philosophy and Psychology at the ‘Freie Universität Berlin’. He graduated in 1984 as Social Scientist. After 4 years of working with troubled young and adolescent children as a social worker in Berlin, he switched to the then new field of Artificial Intelligence. In a newly founded private university, sponsored by Daimler, Siemens and others he earned the title ‘Knowledge Engineer’. In 1989 he started working in the research institute of Daimler in Berlin. His current working topics are the culture of mobility, the interdependency of social and technological innovation and other aspects of envisioning paths into the future. His working field ‘Car & Culture’ is integrated in Daimler’s institute for Social and Technology Research in Berlin. Since 2006 he relocated to Stuttgart to ensure tighter teamwork with colleagues from Design, Research and Development and Marketing.
