Maria Furtwängler-Burda
Maria Furtwängler-Burda is a German actress and studied physician. For more than a decade she has been acting in leading German television series and productions such as “Tatort” or the successful television film “Die Flucht”. Her movies received the highest ratings and reached an audience of more than 10 Million German viewers. For her work in “Tatort” and “Die Flucht” she was honored with Germanys most important awards in the field of acting.
Maria Furtwängler-Burda claims that being an actress is her passion, but being a physician will always remain an integral part of her life. As such, she chairs the Board of Trustees of the initiative “Ärzte für die 3. Welt” (Doctors for Developing Countries). This initiative coordinates physicians who dedicate their annual vacation to medical aid projects in various countries. Maria Furtwängler-Burda herself has repeatedly participated in such projects.
The mother of two children also serves on the Board of Directors of the foundation “Bündnis für Kinder gegen Gewalt” (Coalition for Children Against Violence) and is married to publisher Prof. Dr. Hubert Burda. In 2010, Maria Furtwängler-Burda took over the chairwomanship for the first DLDwomen Conference and has been brand ambassador for L'Oreal for several years.
