Hannes Federrath

Prof. Hannes Federrath is Professor at University of Regensburg and head of the research group "Management of IT Security" at the Department of Information Systems. After receiving his Ph.D. in Computer Science he was a visiting researcher at International Computer Science Institute at University of Berkeley and a guest professor at Freie Universität Berlin.

His research interests are security and privacy in communication networks, development of systems that provide anonymity and unobservability, location management strategies considering privacy in mobile communication systems, cryptography, steganography and data security. He is author and coauthor of approximately 80 publications in information security, privacy and mobile communications.

Network security, application security and security of financial transactions are the main research topics at the Department of Information Systems at the research group "Management of IT Security". University of Regensburg follows up an interdisciplinary research approach in IT security: Experts in computer science, business economics and and social sciences work together in research and development of secure systems.
