Kevin Slavin
Kevin Slavin is an entrepreneur, storyteller and educator. He co-founded Area/Code entertainment in 2005, pioneering the use of emerging technologies in games (e.g., GPS, optic code, augmented reality.). Area/Code was acquired by Zynga in 2011, becoming Zynga NY. Area/Code's work -- with Disney, Nike, Nokia, et al. -- has been covered extensively in major media, and was recently in the MoMA in New York.
Slavin has co-founded other companies focused on platforms for spatial interaction, and aggregating real-time conversations around broadcast TV. He has taught at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program, and Cooper Union, and has invested in a few New York City startups. His TED talk, "How Algorithms Shape the World" was well received and integrated into Apple's advertising for the iPad.
