Jeff Pulver caught offline!
Author: Lukas Kubina
As the founder of the 140 characters conference („Exploring the State of Now“), Jeff Pulver is a true Twitter MVP. This goes as far as successfully tweeting the US Airforce to clear the landing strip for Medecins Sans Frontier cargo planes after the earthquake in Haiti. He also is a political activist and true pioneer of the VoIP industry. His blog is hold as sacred in the global hi-tech community and he is an active investor in (early) early-stage companies with a specific focus on Israeli Startups. What else? His second home is the Montefiori boutique hotel in the Bauhaus district of Tel Aviv - they even put a nametag on his regular room.
Now that makes him as real-time as it gets, doesn’t it? There is no offline in Jeff Pulver, right? At DLD Tel Aviv, we wanted him to be part of our interview series. As we couldn’t find him in the crowd throughout the first day, we quite logically decided to set up the interview via social media. Having tweeted“please bring @jeffpulver to the #dld interview corner (lounge, next to the hall b wall) reward: free #dld book for friends #dldtelaviv”
we expected it to be only a matter of seconds. After a few minutes we got worried. No Jeff in sight, no response whatsoever. Having spent an endless day full of questions and doubts spinning around the effectiveness of social media and the mysterious virtual and real whereabouts of Jeff, Franzi finally walked him to our interview corner (big thank you). Check out why it was worth waiting and what he has to say in his defence in the video below.
