Idit Harel Caperton - Our Most Important Commodity is Education
Author: Eva Karcher
As the founder and president of WorldWideWorkshop, Idit Harel
Caperton is developing social learning networks to cultivate innovation and
creativity among youth. Computer technology for her is the perfect tool to
present learning environments to everyone, in particular to minorities all over
the world. She in particular tries to reach kids and their parents, wherever
they are based, to enable them to believe in their ideas and to pursue those
ideas until they may become a prototype and in the end a product.
“It is a human
right”, Idit argues at DLD Tel Aviv , “to be informed not
only as a consumer, but also as a creator and pusher of one`s ideas”. So as one
of the programs of her organisation, she installed the Globaloria Game Design
Competitions, a social learning network, teaching students to invent educational
webgames. “To be digital citizens in democratic societies, we must be aware,
that our most important commodity is education”, she summarizes her mission.
Meet Idit in the video below to also discuss, why social media should be
better used for social purposes.
