David de Rothschild tells Plastiki’s journey
Exciting things happen around our long-time DLD friend and ambitious environmentalist David de Rothschild: This past Friday, April 22nd, Earth Day, and David and his team launched Myoo.com, formerly Adventure Ecology which has morphed into MYOO. MYOO now encompasses all of Adventure Ecology’s previous expeditions and all projects on the horizon. Myoo.com is described as “an interactive online zine for compelling conversations, exciting collaborations and fresh, thought provoking content.
MYOO consists of four divisions:
• MYOO.com
• MYOO Explore
• MYOO Agency
• MYOO Create
Each area shares the same aim to inspire, innovate and activate individuals, industry and organizations towards a smarter way of living.
Additionally to the launch of this new online platform, David de Rothschild is soon releasing a book about his fascinating journey from San Francisco to Sydney in 2010. ‘The Plastiki: Across the Pacific on Plastic: An Adventure To Save Our Oceans’ is David’s first-hand account of the Plastiki adventure of 2010. Combining exciting narrative, images, maps, journal entries, design plans and sketches in one compelling book, Plastiki is a witness to the fragility of the oceans, an exploration of mankind’s role in their destruction, and a call-to-action on how practical, intelligent changes can reverse the course. In addition to the gripping narrative, and compelling photography, the book contains fascinating facts about our oceans and how plastics affect them; simple ways that the public can help save the oceans; a guide to ocean-friendly seafood choices; and inspiring essays by Philippe Cousteau, Jr., Paul Hawken, William McDonough, Sylvia Earle, amongst others.
You can Buy the book here and support MYOO, as royalties go to charities and to fund future expeditions.
