Burda DLD Nightcap & Ski-Cup at Davos
From January 27 to February 1, 2009, once again Davos became the global meeting point for business leaders, politicians and media managers at this year's World Economic Forum. The world's business and government leaders discussed the current economic crisis and new business models.
One of the networking highlights in the Davos calendar: the "Burda DLD Nightcap" on Wednesday. Hubert Burda and his wife Maria Furtwängler invited the DLD Community to Davos which was in Munich for three days at the DLD Conference. The 14th expenditure of the get-together stood thereby for the first time completely under the slogan of the digital future: it brought together leaders from politics and economics, pioneers of the Internet industry which exchanged information.
Hubert Burda Media and DLD founders Stephanie Czerny and Marcel Reichart welcomed to "Burda DLD Nightcap", amongst others: Shai Agassi (Better Place), Mitchell Baker (Mozilla Corporation), Inaara Begum Aga Khan, Roland Berger (management consultancy), Celia von Bismarck, Paulo Coelho (Author), Michael Dell (Dell Inc.), Mathias Döpfner (Axel Springer), Maria Furtwängler, Martin C. Halusa (Apax), Chad Hurley (YouTube), Silvana Koch-Mehrin (European Parliament), Peter Löscher (Siemens), Leslie Mandoki (music producer), Lakshmi Mittal (Mittal Steel), James R. Murdoch (News Corporation), Hartmut Ostrowski (Bertelsmann), James S. Turley (Ernst & Young), Viviane Reding (European Commission), Jean-Claude Trichet (ECB) and Jimmy Wales (Wikipedia).
Traditionally, at the last day of WEF, Hubert Burda and the DLD founders invited to the "Burda DLD Ski Cup" together with Booz & Company. More than 60 athletic participants faced up to the giant slalom, among them Alexander Dibelius (Goldman Sachs), Rolf Dobelli (Get Abstract), Alice Kammann, Andrea Tichy and Jörg Eigendorf (journalists). With the addition "DLD" Burda´s traditional Cup referred this year for the first time to the innovation conference in Munich. In longterm tradition the DLD Burda Skicup was supported by Völkl.
