Bavarian DLD get-together - DLD Mountain Hike 2008

Author: Stephan Salat

From 22 - 24 August 2008, DLD founders and directors Steffi Czerny and Marcel Reichart invited 20 DLD friends to a gathering in another new groundbreaking disposition - the DLD Mountain Hike at Kreuth.

The small town Kreuth is located on the southern part of the Tegernsee in Upper Bavaria, on the edge of the Alps. Kreuth stands for recreation, privacy, nature and good climate.
Our dear friend Ann Winblad, founder of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, came the long way from New York to join part of the DLD community.

The Bavarian coziness offered a perfect place for inspiration. The small size of the group formed a great chance to exchange ideas, information and future prospects for our upcoming DLD conference in 2009.

Our schedule:
On Friday, the first night, we all got together at the "Weissachalm" for a traditional duck dinner with dumplings, red cabbage and Bavarian beer. The next morning, Saturday, our DLD friends discovered the wildlife parc during a six-hour-hike. We reclined 800m of altitude and reached the summit of the "Königsalm" after 1600m. In the afternoon Dr Burda invited all DLDster to an informal dinner at his house.
Sunday was our Mountain biking Day. Within four hours we "climbed" the "Bayralm". The finale was a visit of the Bavarian festival "Waldfest" in Kreuth.

Part of our first DLD Mountain Hike were e.g.: Ann Winblad, Lars Hinrichs (XING), Jochen Wegner (FOCUS Online), Klaus Hommels (Benchmark Capital), Felix Petersen (plazes.com), Olaf Castritius (GE Commercial Finance Media) or Falk Müller Veerse (Cartagena Capital).

A little documentary movie will follow asap. Please also visit our picture gallery at the "DLD group" @ facebook.
