'DLD Talk About' with Ernst & Young
Author: Alexandra Schiel
How do international executives rate trends in the media industry? What developments will have the greatest impact on business? How will people consume media? Which companies are best positioned for the future?
These are some of the questions the auditing and consulting firm Ernst & Young, a long-term partner of DLD, posed to international decision-makers for a recent study.
Globally, 27 CEOs of leading companies - including Hartmut Ostrowski of Bertelsmann, Steve Ballmer of Microsoft, Howard Stringer of Sony, Philippe Dauman of Viacom and Edgar Bronfman of Warner Music - participated in the survey.
Their opinions have been summarized and were completed by facts and figures about the latest developments.
Ernst & Young partner Gerhard Mueller presented the results of "Fast forward - how CEOs are balancing the transitions to the digital future" at "DLD Talk About" in Munich this Tuesday.
The quintessence of the survey is: The future is mobile and digital. Companies offering Internet media and new content are therefore best prepared for the future.
For the surveyed entrepreneurs, the transformation of traditional media and the development of new content and products for users with amended claims is currently one of the biggest challenges.
"Consumers want to trigger content anytime anywhere," said Mueller.
It is assumed that the target group of mobile Internet and entertainment users will be of strong growth.
Nevertheless, there exists a lot of uncertainty in the executive suites: "Nobody really knows where we are heading, so everybody is testing and trying out" described Mueller the current transformation situation.
Everybody agrees on the following fact though: "Brands will play an extremely important role in the digital world. Brands must be maintained and the user confidence needs to be strengthened."
Guests of the first "DLD Talk About" were e.g. Kristina Hammer (Mercedes Benz), Felix Haas (amiando), Sven Kielgas (Serviceplan), Alex Wunschel (Markendreiklang), Klaus Eck (prblogger.de), Frank Winnenbrock (Welt der Wunder), Patrick Warnking (Google Germany), Dirk Ströer (Stroer Außenwerbung)
Ernst & Young questions Ceo's of renowned companies in individual interviews in a two-year rhythm. The current study "Fast Forward" will be officially published in early November.
