The European
Author: Artur Schmidt
The European takes clear positions, and prizes a culture of analysis and controversy, and of debate and reflection. The European is often optimistic, sometimes laid back and rooted in an occidental perspective on global events.
The European is the new online platform that reshapes the reading experience of important print media outlets to fit the internet. Movers and thinkers debate and interpret the world in 3500 characters or less. We are the first journalistic platform in the German-speaking market that breaks with the classical newspaper sections to utilize the journalistic potential of the internet.
Most online journalism generates market value from the print medium to which it is attached and which it supports. The European has the appeal of an independent online platform: We feature short texts, opulent picture galleries, and intelligent videos. Our focus is not on the news themselves - reports about events and development are now accessible online in real-time - but rather on the interpretation of these news.
We decided to found The European in September 2009 to provide the online community, together with a team of experienced journalists and authors, with a new platform that follows the same quality guidelines as traditional journalism.
