Mercury House One by Architecture and Vision

Last year's DLD speakers Andreas Vogler and Arturo Vittori, founders of the renowned research and design studio Architecture and Vision, have designed and created a new concept, which was exhibited at the Venice Biennale this year. This advanced concept is called "MercuryHouseOne" and is a mobile living pod, in other words a "mobile, modular home", a deliberate cross between a car and a living room. The concept incorporates a solar power element as well as rainwater harvesting option. Moreover the inspiration for this concept was drawn from nature and its shape recalls the beauty and efficiency of a water drop. The interior can be described as soft and elegant. Through the generous openings, the compact space inside is connected to the surrounding environment. It provides a space to find peace and tranquillity and experiencing nature's energies and beauty. Lighting, video, and sound are integrated in the habitat in order to create a unique experience inside. The unit is energetically autonomous. The necessary power is provided by solar cells integrated in the skylights. This curvaceous capsule is meant to provide a unique experience whether placed in nature in the heart of a bustling city. There are mobile offices, mobile hedges, mobile homes and mobile phones, and just when you thought you couldn't get more mobile, now there are mobile lounges! Congratulations to this new concept.
