Greg Lynn chosen to design Swarovski Crystal Palace
Author: Artur Schmidt
Former DLD-speaker and award-winning architect Greg Lynn, famous for his innovative designs involving computer technology and creating biomorphic structures, has been granted the honour to exhibit for Swarovski Crystal Palace at the Design Miami. He will be creating an ambitious and highly atmospheric installation at this year's Design Miami, which will be running from 1 - 5 December 2009 in Miami.
Greg Lynn, who was profiled by Time Magazine in their projection of 21st century innovators in the field of architecture and design and is the principal of Greg Lynn FORM, designed a structure, which will take the form of space extending over 80 square metres and reaching over 7 metres in height, where the 'walls' and 'ceiling' are made of Swarovski crystal-encrusted suspended panels.
Design Miami is a global forum that brings together the most influential dealers, collectors, designers, curators and critics of art from around the world in celebration of design culture and commerce. Swarovski is the main sponsors of this venue and chooses a designer and one of his pieces or installations to be exhibited every year at the Design Miami.
Former designers include famous names such as Ross Lovegrove, who was one of our speakers at DLD last year, appears to be an interesting coincidence.
