Jason Calacanis from Mahalo was talking about his initial plans of making an alternative, better search engine out of Mahalo, a plan he failed with and rebuilt the company into a education platform.

He listed some crucial ways to know as an entrepreneur when you have to pivot:

• Listen to the customers
  They set up an email adress where people could sent them any request and got a 100 emails a day.
• Listen to the metrics
  They had a close look on Google Analytics to find out which videos ran best.
• Listen to the market
  “At some point you have to realize, that there is a bigger fish than you.”
• Listen to your team
  “When I turned my back upon them, my team started working on teaching people stuff.”
