Steffi Czerny, Managing Director of DLD Media and co-founder of DLD Conference, welcomed the scientist Riccardo Sabbatini on the stage. He talked about the human code – the genetic instructions of every human being. It's possible to read the genome, just like a book. But how can we use it to improve our lives? "By using machine learning", Riccardo explained. "We can translate the human code and predict things like height, eye color, skin color and even facial structure based on a person’s genome." Scientists may soon also be able to use the same technology to personalize medical treatments for diseases and even edit genes, what would enable them to remove diseases ans identify mutations. “This is the code of life,” he said. “Whatever we want to do with it, whatever question we want to pose, now is the time to do it. It's an exciting time for medicine, science and society.”
