Workshop Review Series: Learn the basics of Chinese in only 60 minutes

Chineasy

Chinese is a blank piece of paper for almost all western country´s citizens. It is connoted to be an unbelievable hard language, but: that’s not true! Chinese can be so easy. It has no gender and no tenses, the grammar is easy to understand. ShaoLan Hsueh invented Chineasy that´s a project to learn the language in a playful and creative way. Chinese characters are painted in combination with their meanings.

The symbol of America looks similar to the one of a sheep: A-määäh-rica. The sign of a mother-in-law is a woman and woman, which form an argument: "mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are usually fighting." By understanding the meanings behind the symbols, it´s so much easier to internalize the big picture. Chinese is less a language, it is more the collection of languages. Once you´ve it you can tackle 1.3 billion people.
