Silvana Koch-Mehrin

Dr. Silvana Koch-Mehrin is a Member of the European Parliament, where she represents and leads the Free Democratic Party (FDP) of Germany. Since 1999, she is a member of the FDP federal executive. She is Deputy-Leader of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe. She is the youngest among the European leaders of major parties and is responsible for bringing her party back into the European Parliament after ten years of absence. Previously, she was co-founder and managing director of a public affairs consultancy focusing on strategy planning and consultancy on European issues; she lectured to MBA students on Business Communication at the United Business Institute in Brussels, and holds an MA in Economics and History and a PhD in Historical Monetary Unions from the University of Heidelberg.
