John Armleder
Geneva and New York based artist John Armleder is a Professor at the Braunschweig Academy of Art and at the School of Art in Lausanne. He co-founded the artist cooperative "Ecart" and through this group he managed a seminal independent art space, gallery, publisher and performance group which created shows around the world.
John Armleder has an influential position as a painter, sculptor and installation artist and he has had solo exhibitions at the MoMA in New York; Tate, Liverpool; Kunsthalle, Baden Baden; National Galerie, Berlin; Kunstmuseum, Basel; Kunsthalle, Zurich; ICA, Philadelphia; Mamco, Geneva; Kunstverein, Hannover; Rose Art Museum, Boston; Contemporary Art Museum, St.Louis; Musée d'Art Moderne, Paris among others.
He is now associated with the artists Mai-Thu Perret, Gustav Metzger, curators Clive Phillpot and Mathieu Copeland for a upcoming travelling show at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the first retrospective of empty exhibitions from Yves Klein to Robert Barry and others.
