Socialmedian purchased by XING

Today XING founder and DLD-friend Lars Hinrichs announced the purchase of NY-based socialmedian Inc., a leading innovator in the online news industry. Socialmedian gathers information from about 19,000 sources, including social media services such as Digg, Delicious, Twitter, Flickr or YouTube, and then filters the news through your social networking contacts. Says Lars Hinrichs: "For XING it´s a huge technological jump as it enables the integration of business news into our network." The entire socialmedian team will be joining XING as part of the acquisition. Socialmedian CEO Jason Goldberg joins XING in Hamburg in the newly created position of Vice President XING Applications Platform.
