Esther Dyson to train for space travel

Technology visionary, journalist and investor Esther Dyson is currently training for the ultimate travel experience: a private space flight with Space Adventures, the company that provides human space missions on the Soyuz spacecraft. Dyson who is already an investor in Space Adventures will not be flying anytime soon but is the backup astronaut to former Microsoft executive Charles Simonyi for his spring 2009 flight.

The training happens at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center located in Star City near Moscow, the actual space rocket will be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. Just recently, Richard Garriott, famed game developer and son of NASA astronaut Owen Garriott, made history during his space mission by becoming the 1st second-generation astronaut.
