Andreas Weigend
Author: Stephan Salat
Andreas Weigend was the chief scientist of Amazon.com where he helped create a customer-centric, measurement-focused culture. He now works both with innovative startups and visionary multinationals in the area of people and data. He also works on innovation for products and business models, enabled by the current consumer-driven data revolution. The work with his clients often reaches across product development, marketing, and customer service.
His education was in physics, where he analyzed the traces of elementary particles. He then moved (as Associate Professor at NYU) to the traces of traders on Wall Street, followed by the traces of users on the web. He boils down ideas and trends to their essence and enjoys working on their implications with great students. Andreas teaches at Stanford (Data Mining), Berkeley (Marketing), and in China (Tsinghua).
He lives in San Francisco, Shanghai, and on weigend.com.
