Music on Facebook

Author: Jonas Grashey

Facebook gives multilingualism and music to its users. 2,000 German speaking volunteers have translated the Facebook site in less than two weeks.

More languages will be supported by Facebook since more than 60 percent of the 66 million users live outside the United States (one million in German speaking countries), Matt Cohler told at DLD08. But Facebook is heading for further innovations as well. The popular social network platform is implementing a music acquisition service and building an application rivalling Myspace. Meetings with the major music labels were already arranged. Everybody who wants to promote his band, can connect with fans and spread music into the web. Concert dates, discographies and news can be shared. More than a hundred bands already joined and set-up profiles - among others Alanis Morissette, Beyoncé and Coldplay. Read more on Billboard, Mashable, Tech , PCadvisor and reuters or watch the session at DLD08. Marc Zuckerberg talks about Facebook's future in Business Week.
