A beautiful day
Ulla-Maaria Mutanen, founder of Thinglink, a Wikipedia for design, and Jyri Engeström, founder of the mobile internet company Jaiku and speaker at DLD06, celebrated their wedding in Finland. Congratulations from the DLD-Team and all the best on your journey together! But, the two creative heads didn't marry like Jane and Joe Doe, respectively Matti and Maija Meikäläinen - they made their most beautiful day to be a highlight of excellent design.
The bridal couple exchanged wedding vows at the end of February. According to a Finnish tradition, the 29th February is a topsy-turvy day, and women can also propose marriage. If they are rejected, at the very least they'll get enough fabric for a skirt as compensation. But there was no doubt, that Jyri Engeström would accept - the more so as Dai Fujiwara from Japan had promised to design wedding costumes. International design friends came together at the Alvar Aalto Academy and co-arranged the wedding ceremony: Ilkka Suppanen (Finnland), Miguel Fluxá (Spain) from the shoe brand Camper, the designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec (France), Hella Jongerius (Netherlands), Louise Campbell (Danmark) and graphic designer Aimo Katajamäki (Finnland). They designed accessories which enable bride and groom to express their love everyday and to remember this beautiful day.
