Erik Wachtmeister
Erik Wachtmeister is the founder of aSmallWorld. Erik holds a BA from Georgetown and an MBA from INSEAD. He has an investment-banking career behind him at Lehman Brothers and Rothschild in London and New York. He created his own business in 1993, doing private placements for public companies. In 2000, he started Viking Internet, an investment company that he later took public on the LSE.
Erik realized already in 1997 a need for a private global online platform. Launched in March 2004, aSmallWorld allows people with common interests and circles of friends to interact with one another. Unlike other social networks, aSmallWorld aggregates an existing community of people that are already highly connected. Relevance, trust and genuine relationships are the core values. The mission is to aggregate the world's most interesting people with the world's most interesting information.
