Chris Bangle
Author: Heiko Hebig
Christopher (Chris) Bangle (born 1956 in Ohio) is an automobile designer and Chief of Design for BMW Group.
Bangle began his career at Opel. He later moved to Fiat where he became chief designer.
When he joined BMW in 1992, he became their first American chief of design. The 1999 Z9 concept car marked a departure from BMW's traditional style, and his latter work has caused some controversy among BMW enthusiasts. But his designs have sold, and after being replaced as Chief Designer of BMW, Bangle became the Chief of Design for the whole BMW Group, including Mini and Rolls Royce.

I love Chris Bangle's designs, even though they are so controversial, they are still selling more than Mercedes... and BMW doesn't have as many cars in their lineup as mercedes benz. so what if the new BMWs don't look exactly like the old ones. whether or not we like it, change happens... and so it doesn't even help when people whine and complain... they just need to get over themselves

Chris Bangles designs are genius. The Play of concave and convex surfaces, the horizontal and vertical manipulation of a single peice of metal. The seamless integration of rear and front lights give BMW so much depth. His designs are a pretty much perfect. My favourites: 6 series, Z4, 3 series and 7 series. These designs represent forward thinking,
I wish i could work for BMW Design team. it wouldn't even be work.

Thanks Chris for your designs, they really saved me allot of money, instead of buying the new 5 or 3 series, I get to keep my current 3 series E46 and spend less money on other cars. Way to Go Chris!! Keep it up.

Chris designs are full of personality that's right, but his own personality, not BMW's. BMW is an institution and a BMW car must not only be a BMW but also look like one. In my opinion his designs are a murderer of BMW spirit no matter how fashionable or "perfect" they are.
Sorry for BMW, it's a pity.
