Alexander Straub

Alexander Straub is a German entrepreneur and investor based in London, focusing on significant technology or business model innovations. Several sectors are of particular interest - mobile, software, internet, biotech, organic food, healthy living and alternative energy - though also new markets or contrarian approaches to existing markets.

He was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford and holds two engineering degrees from Cornell University and TU Darmstadt. In 1996, Straub co-funded Mondus - an online b2b marketplace for small and medium sized enterprises. The company later entered and won a Sunday Times of London entrepreneurship contest. With their prize money the founders expanded Mondus into the US and various European countries and later sold it to the Italian Yellow Pages giant Seat Pagine Gialle in 2000 only to buy back the company in 2002.

Prior to Mondus, Straub held positions with Goldman Sachs'principal investment area in London where he assisted an investment into SSL, later floated on NASDAQ under the name Parthus. He also worked as general partner at Lazard Technology Partners (LTP) in New York. While at LTP he was the lead investor in 20 technology companies from a $300m fund focused on early to late stage enterprises in the areas of software, telecom and Internet on the East Coast of the US.

He recently co-founded a pioneering mobile phone company called Truphone. The company is the world's first 4G network operator. Truphone, which provides mobile VoIP technology to revolutionize mobile communication. He is also the current CEO and co-founder of Pixsta, a revolutionary Image Browse and Search Engine company.
