Dan Gillmor, Founder & Director of the Center for Citizen Media

Dan Gillmor is founder of the Center for Citizen Media, a project to enhance and expand grassroots media and its reach. The center is an affiliate of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University Law School and the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California, Berkeley.
Gillmor, author of "We the Media: Grassroots Journalism by the People, for the People" (O'Reilly Media, 2004), was a newspaper journalist for more than two decades, including a well-regarded technology and business column for San Jose Mercury News, Silicon Valley's daily newspaper. He was one of the first mainstream journalists to start a weblog.
